I first used "Info-X" and "Virtual Information Lab"
in my May 16, 2000 research grant letter of intent to Stanford's Bio-X
program. They turned me down on the basis that I am not a Stanford faculty
member. Being a Visiting Scholar does not count. So these terms Info-X™
and Virtual Information Lab™ are now my personal
trademark/service mark property for projects and services dealing with the
virtual information domain (vid). I am putting them on the web on November
4, 2000, seeking investment and grants in projects dealing with virtual
information domain (vidic) technologies, including vidic transducers,
software systems, communication systems, nanotechnology actuators, and
databases.
A web search shows that there is already a medical services company named
Info-X , which, "founded in 1993, provides coding and compliance solutions to hospitals, physicians, and integrated delivery systems (IDS)."
The URL info-x.com is owned by Info X Technology Solutions, a computer
systems integrator. The URL info-x.co.uk is home to The Information
Exchange. And Info-X has been used for a number of other information
companies, technologies, and URLs. But to my knowledge, none of them deal
with the virtual information domain, so there should be no confusion in that
context.
I believe that the word combination Virtual Information Lab has not
been used before, especially since I seem to be the first person to be talking
about virtual information in the way that I do.
So where I go, the Virtual Information Lab goes. It is looking for a
home right now. I hope that Stanford will reconsider.
New VID interface trademarks and logos form a family. This family
includes any combination of the words VIDnet (tm), VIDlink (tm), VIDport (tm),
VIDbook [the words are trademarks by themselves], a logo consisting of two
overlapping circles which form an infinity symbol, the left one of which has an
X signifying "into the VID" and the right one of which has a dot
signifying "out of the VID" (symbols borrowed from physics magnetic
field notation), and an optional "double bubble" enclosing the
logo. The logo is optionally marked "IN" and
"OUT". Following are some sample members of this family.
